FreeCal is a free iPhone calorie and macro tracker whose AI photo scan estimates the calories and macros in a meal from a single picture, alongside a barcode scanner and a normal food search. Adaptive targets re-check your calorie and macro goals against your logged weight trend, so the plan adjusts to what actually happens rather than a one-off calculator.

Nothing is behind a paywall. Every feature, including photo scan and adaptive targets, is in the free version, which is ad-supported. Photo scan gives three free scans and then unlocks more by watching an ad. The optional No Ads tier is $4.99 a month, $29.99 a year, or $99.99 for life, cheaper monthly and yearly than the premium tiers of the main calorie apps, and it changes nothing except removing the ads.
