City Signals

City Signals turns public city building-permit data into one clean weekly file for people who sell to builders: suppliers, subcontractors, equipment rental, insurance and B2B sales teams. Each week it pulls newly issued permits for Austin, Chicago, Cincinnati, New Orleans and Mesa. It cleans the contractor names, adds the job value, permit type and ZIP, and flags contractors who are busy this week and contractors who are new to the city.

There's a free lookup tool showing this week's Austin permits. You can search and filter by type, ZIP and value, and download a CSV with no signup. Free samples are on Hugging Face, and free weekly counts are in a public Google Sheet.

It holds business and property data only: no homeowner names, no person names, no phone numbers. It is for marketing and market research, not a consumer report.
